Here’s a simple guide to help make sure everything goes smoothly when you walk into your appointment:
1. Eat a Good Breakfast 🥣
Start your day off with a nice, filling meal. You’ll want to have energy and keep your blood sugar up during your session. Something healthy with protein and carbs is ideal!
2. Stay Hydrated 💧
Drink plenty of water throughout the morning. Hydrated skin is happier skin, and it can make the tattooing process a little smoother.
3. Avoid Alcohol or Caffeine ☕🍺
Try to skip alcohol and limit caffeine before your appointment. They can thin your blood, which might affect how the tattoo heals and cause more bleeding during the session.
4. Dress Comfortably 👚
Wear something comfy and easy to remove (or roll up) to the tattoo area. If your tattoo is on your arm, for example, a short-sleeve shirt will be perfect. You want to be relaxed and not have to worry about your clothes getting in the way!
5. Shower & Clean the Area 🚿
Take a shower before you leave, and make sure the area you’ll be tattooed is clean. You want to feel fresh, and your tattoo artist will appreciate it!
6. Don’t Forget Your ID 💳
Make sure you have your ID with you—your artist will ask for it every time
7. Bring Snacks (Optional!) 🍫
If you’re having a long session, it’s a good idea to bring some snacks or drinks (like juice or granola bars) to keep your energy up.
